Are YOU an Author, Expert, Collector or Have Valuable Knowledge in a Specialised Subject?

“Share your know-how with the world & future generations through artiFact”

An artifact or artefact (from Latin phrase arte factum, from ars skill + facere to make) is “something made or given shape by man, such as a tool or a work of art, esp an object of historical interest”

old-booksJUST LAUNCHED: artiFact is an Online Digital Archive of all things given shape by the hands of mankind … a completely open source, free endeavour with an aim of cataloging and identifying just about anything of interest from the past. This means anyone can help the project by contributing their time and knowledge. ArtiFact is hosted on powerful, secure, dedicated servers in one of the world’s most advanced data centres and fastidiously backed up daily.  Your contributions will be available for the world and for the next generations.

Work together to make artiFacts to better for everyone. Our knowledge of the many and varied works of artists, craftspeople, engineers, designers, authors, and artisans throughout history is scattered around the world in books, journals, databases, websites, collections, and in the minds of people everywhere. Imagine what it would mean if this information could be gathered together and made available to everyone – anywhere – at a moment’s notice.

This dream is becoming a reality through artiFact.

artiFact is compiled collaboratively largely by volunteers with knowledge of a specialised subject. Anyone can write and make changes to artiFacts. Users can contribute anonymously, under a pseudonym, or, if they choose to, with their real identity and an accreditation, a short bio and link to a website if desired.

Our Vision: Global access to knowledge about any object of value or historical interest. artiFacts goal is to compile the sum of all human knowledge into a Web-based, free content encyclopedia specialising in art, antiques and valuables.

Our Mission: To increase awareness and understanding of ‘artiFacts’ that gathers, generates, and shares knowledge in an open, freely accessible and trusted digital resource.
