Late 18th Century Memorial Ring

This ring is said to have been handed down from a man who served with Nelson in 1794.

It marks the life and death of an ‘R. Cheesemont’ who was a surgeon on HMS Powerful. The ring is made from gold with an ivory backing and is referred to as a Memento Mori.
