Rene Lalique is best known for his colorful vases, and amongst all his glassware, the Lalique vases enjoys a collectible status with the collectors and interior designers alike. And, the auction house Bonhams is offering a chance to the private collectors to own some of the rarest lalique vases from 1860 in its London auction on 12 June 2012. One of the sale highlights includes a Serpent vase from 1924. The Serpent vase molded in amber is estimated to fetch around $48,000 to $56,000.
Recently, Christie’s U.K. commemorated René Lalique glassware Art Deco designs with their decorative art and design sale in May. The London auction brought in a new splendor with Lalique’s creations consolidating an overall sales closure valued at $916,128.
Blue Poisson Vase
The electric blue Rare Poisson Lalique Vase, no. 925 surpassed its estimated tag of around $80,000 to pinch a close deal at $122,838. The mark up on the blue Lalique Vase is considered a record breaking high for all Lalique vases in the colored segment.
The top contender at $122,838, the Rare Poisson electric blue Vase, no. 925 is a 1921 creation that is characterized with its electric blue intaglio R. The engraved French vase is around 24 cm. high. The opalescent, Rare Poisson electric blue vase has been molded with engravings of blue-green patina.
Art Deco Lalique Vases
Apart from the Rare Poisson Vase no.925, around 105 René Lalique items were sold at Christie’s U.K. semi-annual Lalique sale held at South Kensington. While the Poisson Vase, in cased-red glass fetched $54,018, the Perruches Vase, no. 876 attained prominence with its sale price of $55,876.

The Perruches Vase, no. 876 (left), an amber colored variation rendered itself a strong contender at the auction coming close at $55,876. The 1919, Perruches molded vase bears a dark amber and white stained intaglio. The 1919 designed vase is around 25.7 cm. high.
Yet, another version of the prized press molding variation of Lalique’s opalescent colored glass vase (right) collection fetched close to $48,000 for its Bacchantes vase. This 1927 art deco piece at a height of 32 cm bears a clear and frosted engraved wheel that blends in with Lalique’s unique design statement.
All in all, the Lalique glass collection averaged a sales mark-up at around $10,036 for each of Rene Lalique item at London’s Christie’s public sale.
